Foundations Family Childcare
Preschool
At Foundations Family Childcare, our preschool program is built on the belief that children learn best when their social, emotional, and developmental needs are met first. Our research-based curriculum aligns with the Colorado Early Learning and Development Guidelines (ELDGs) and supports the whole child across all developmental areas. These include approaches to learning, health and physical development, social and emotional development, language and literacy, numeracy, logic and reasoning, and other age-appropriate learning domains.
We intentionally focus on building independence and essential life skills—such as putting on shoes and washing hands—that create a strong foundation for lifelong learning. Through child-led experiences, children develop critical skills including cooperation, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and project management, helping prepare them for success in kindergarten and beyond.
Foundations Family Childcare participates in Colorado’s Universal Preschool (UPK) program. Children who are four years old by October 1 of the year prior to entering kindergarten are eligible for 15 hours of free preschool per week. Families are responsible for the wraparound care rate for additional hours. Foundations Family Childcare meets all teacher, program, and curriculum requirements established by the Colorado Department of Early Childhood.

Teaching Philosophy
Foundations Family Childcare is dedicated to creating a mixed-age, family-like environment where children build meaningful connections with one another and develop lasting relationships. My approach supports the whole child, nurturing growth across all developmental domains, including cognitive, physical, social-emotional, and both gross and fine motor skills.
Establishing a strong sense of love, belonging, and connection is essential during the early years. When children are given the opportunity to form friendships and feel secure, they develop skills and relationships that carry with them into adulthood. These foundational elements must be in place before meaningful learning can occur.
At Foundations Family Childcare, we believe children learn best by freely exploring their environment and engaging in child-led activities. This approach encourages movement, builds self-confidence, supports healthy risk-taking, and promotes the development of language, math, science, and social-emotional skills.
Social and emotional readiness for kindergarten is viewed as a critical component of a child’s overall development. Through play and daily interactions, children learn essential life skills such as cooperation, negotiation, problem-solving, integrity, and listening to others. Play is a vital and intentional part of our program.
